How to Avoid Yeast Infections

There are many women who are chronic sufferers of yeast infections. These infections can be horribly uncomfortable as they cause sever itching and irritation. There are many reasons why women would be more prone to yeast infections and there are several things which should be avoided. The first thing that women do that is a total mistake is to use over the counter douches entirely too much. Some women actually douche after each time they have sexual intercourse. This is a terrible thing to do and what these women need to understand is that a woman vaginal area can be compared to a self cleaning oven in that there are good bacteria present which naturally clean the area.

By using douches too often you are eliminating the good bacteria as well as the bad, this can lead to an excess of yeast present in the vagina because the body’s natural defenses have been compromised. Another common cause of yeast infection is wearing clothing that is too restrictive such as super tight jeans, for long periods of time; this restricts the air flow the vaginal region causing the bad bacteria to multiply. Swimming and soaking in the bath rub too often is another common problem for women who are prone to yeast infections.

If you have constant problems with yeast infections try asking your doctor about what you can do to minimize the potential for these nasty, irritating infections. Try foregoing douching for awhile to see if perhaps that is your culprit. Some doctors today frown upon douching and say it is unnecessary in a healthy woman with the proper PH present in her body.
